Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit Route

Budget Safari

Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit Route

The 9-day Northern Circuit “daytime summit” route is a variation of the standard 8-day Northern Circuit, featuring one key difference — the summit bid begins during the day instead of at midnight. After reaching the summit, climbers descend to Barafu Camp for the night instead of continuing to Mweka Camp.

This modification eliminates the cold and windy midnight ascent, providing a more comfortable summit experience. The extra day is used for a relaxed and safe descent.

The Northern Circuit route is among the best ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, offering nearly 360° views of stunning scenery, including the peaceful and less-traveled northern slopes. It also provides the longest acclimatization period, significantly improving your chances of a successful and enjoyable summit.
